www.notepod.com

This website www.notepod.com sells these notepad type books with graph paper inside.  The book allows you to design apps for the iphone with pages that are already scaled to the dimensions of the iphone.

I think that this is an extremely clever idea because there is definitely a market for this type of design.

Another website that Chris Murphy mentioned was www.designcommission.com so i went on and had a look at it.  The company designs websites for its clients, i chose a few examples to show the range of work that they do for lots of different types of companies.

The images below show the layout of the website that they designed for their client Kevin Cruff. I chose this design because i feel it shows how well they understand their client, they know that he is a photographer and the purpose of the website is to showcase his work in the best possible light.  To do this they have used dull colours the let the images stand out from the background as well as a limited amount of text so that it does not take away from the images.

This next website that i have chosen is one for Greenlight.  I chose this one because again i think that the black and grey colour scheme works well for the type of website that it is.  It allows the images to stand out from the background and the scroll across menu on the first page is something that i think works well and gives it a professional feel.

The final web design i chose was for marvel, i chose this design because i feel that it mixes illustration and graphic/web design in a successful way that would appeal to viewers of the website.

After seeing the talk from Chris Murphy i decided to go on and have a look at some of the websites he had talked about. This website was an online shop that sells Vinyl stickers. I found some of the designs extremely interesting and i have seen what a good idea it actually is. It is something that there would be a big market for and it is something that you could have fun designing and creating.

I think the chalkboard designs are particularly clever as i think they would be popular for cafes and shops to display information without actually having to physically move a board around to put it out in the morning and bring it in at night.

Graphically all the designs make a real statement and their diverse range of designs mean that there is a design that will suit everyone.
