Jeff Nishinaka

I found this amazing work by Jeff Nishinaka, a Paper Sculptor.  He was born in LA and attended The Art Centre College of Design in Pasadena, California.  He creates art forms in 3D and as you can tell from the images of his work he creates them amazing well.

I think the amount of detail in this piece at the stadium is outstanding, you can just tell how much work has gone into creating the piece.

I love this piece because i think the insertion of the doll into the 3D piece really brings it to life and makes it somehow seem even more impressive.  The lighting used in the image works perfectly creating shadows in all the right places to give an even more 3D look.

Tom Bagshaw

I found this work by Tom Bagshaw on Central Illustration Agency.  I love the elegance of his piece with the women that are mixed with a kind of sadness that is shown through their surroundings and facial expressions, it gives the pieces an unusual feeling that just endears the viewer and makes them want to look at it.

This piece is different from the rest yet the same in the sense that it takes something that is essentially a happy feel good image and makes it feel darker simply by the use of duller colours that for a cartoon type image like this is quite unusual.

Candy Lab

On the website Central Illustration web i found the work of the company Candy Lab, this made me want to go on to their website to view more of their work.  In doing so i found that they create a wide range of impressive and stunning work for a number of huge companies.  Although initially just based in the Uk they are now in Europe and America making them a worldwide known company.

I love this piece that they have created for Umbro, the way they have manipulated the letters into the shape of a face and yet it is still legible is extremely impressive.  The colours used give the piece an earthy feel that is warm and inviting to look at.
I found this piece interesting because of the concept of the cape flowing in the wind yet on closer inspection it is made up of paint.  Definitely not one of their best pieces of work, just an interesting concept.

I love these characters that they have created for Sony Ericsson , each one with has its own personality which i feel makes them so appealing.

Central Illustration agency

I found this work by Kate Miller on Central Illustration agency. I love how she uses a number of different elements to make up her images, the use of block colour as well as simple figure outlines.  It makes your eye instantly be drawn to the images in block colour first and then examine the surroundings, ultimately highlighting the important figure within the image.  She uses a consistent colour scheme throughout each of her images which in my opinion makes them an impressive collection.

I found this work from Nuno Da Costa which i think is very similar to Jaqueline Bissetts. I think both designers work is very impressive but for me Bissetts is just the bit better. Having said that i love the first piece below with the woman in the black dress, i just think the flowing lines from the dress make it so appealing and the image quite intriguing. Also i think that with Da Costas work as a collection together it is stunning.

I absolutely love the work of James A Hodgkins, in particular his work for Lloyds TSB. I just think that it is so original and has become so iconic, for me at least. I think that his identifiable characters are what make the advertisements so endering, each one is the same but different in the sense that each has their own personality. I think that to be able to identify a designers work and to know that it is theirs without seeing the name is quite an achievement.

I found the work of Greg Becker on Illustration web, he uses coloured and shading pencils in his work. I just love the effect that they give in creating a final piece of work that just looks so original and interesting.

I love this one with the penguins, i think the way that he has mixed the fifferent blue and purple shades for the sea and the sky gives the piece such an intriguing style and burst of colour that you would simply not get from using one shade.

I love the orranges and yellows in this piece i just think that they really bring the picture alive and immediately attract your attention.

I found this work on Illustration web by Claire Scully, I love the use of collage and how she has incorporated many different techniques which all add to the impact of the images.

I love this image of the bird on the building it just displays an eyecatching difference in scale within the image and the contrast between the colours within the image makes it stand out.

Lemonade Illustration agency

After looking at a post that Karla made about the Lemonade Illustration agency i went on to have a look at some of their work and i found these pieces of illustration for children by Thomas Stefflbauer. I like the look of simplicity of his characters i think it makes them more appealing than it would if they were extremely detailed.

The simple use of variation of thickness of line in this piece is what i think makes it so successful, the charcter immediately seems likeable, a key to creating a successful character to appeal to children.

Some of my first year work!

These are some screen shots from my 5 second animation that i created using Flash. I created all the elements of the animation in Adobe Illustrator and then edited them in Flash. The idea behind the animation is that the character is standing with his baloon when a gush of wind comes and sweeps him up into the sky. His balloon gets buurst by a bird and he starts to fall but luckily his friend comes and saves him in her plane. The theme was 'Dayream' as i am sure you can tell from the storyline!

This is the front and back page of the newspaper spread in the style of the Guardian that i created.

This is the font that i designed for the Modular book project. I used only the pill shape in three different sizes to create the font.

This is an example poster that i created in order to illustrate how the font would be used and what it would look like when the letters are used to create a word.

This is my image piece for the book cover project for The Secret History. I drew out the original image with pencil and marker and then on illustrator i drew over the the trees and figures in the image to create a more prominant black colour, leaving a few of the trees behind unchanged in order to give a more layered effect.

This piece was for the 2 page spread Arts festival project. I decided to create the music section of the booklet and use bands that know to include in the piece. I chose the black/blue combination for the pages because i think that it gives a much more impressive outcome for this type of project in order to appeal to the audience it is aimed at.

More from http://abduzeedo.com

I found these pieces of work from http://abduzeedo.com/dailyinspiration-245

Each piece caught my attention because of the interesting techniques used in order to come up with the final outcome and in the case of the Beatles piece it made me smile and want to look at it further, something which in my mind makes it a good piece of work.

The second image with the notebook and the text attracted me because of the way in which the sentence is not actually written in ink but in fact incorporated into it, using a font with interesting shape to each of the letters.

The final image with the soldier caught my attention because of the way in which his figure is incorporated into part of a battlefield with the planes flying overhead. The almost blurred aspect of the image further adds t its appeal.

Work from http://abduzeedo.com

I found this image while looking on the website http://abduzeedo.com. I think that it is an extremely powerful image that immediately attracts your attention. It is interesting to look at all the different areas of the image to find things that you did not notice at first glance.
